Going ORGANIC At Home:
There are so many ways to make your everyday life more organic. But here are a few specific ideas:
- How can I choose organic products? Look for the new "Canada Organic" Logo on your foods and beverages.
Look for a certifier name and seal on your non-food items.
- Make good food choices. Choose organic at the grocery and natural food stores. Join your local Organic box program or Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.
- Prepare a special meal for your loved ones or host a dinner party showcasing organic ingredients. (Here are a few great organic recipes.)
- Avoid bringing harsh chemicals into your home. Use organic alternatives for furnishing and cleaning your home. Search here for local suppliers.
- Grow an organic flower or food garden in your yard or in a local community garden plot. Keep your yard safe for pets and children by avoiding chemical pesticides and fertilizers.
- Bring your babies up organic. Small children, with their speedy growth rates and metabolism, are more vulnerable to developmental damage than adults - research shows that a child is exposed to four times more pesticides in their foods than an adult. Feed your child organic baby foods, and look for organic cotton diapers and baby care products. For more information click here.
- Teach your children young! Here are some ideas for games and activities to teach young people about organic growing:
